Sarawak Achieves Record Revenue Of RM13.1 Billion In 2023, Sets Sights On Future Growth


KUCHING, Dec 25 - Sarawak records a historic fiscal milestone as it an unprecedented revenue of RM13.1 billion for the year 2023, marking the state's highest financial performance to date, announced Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg.

The Premier, elated by the achievement, shared, "We reached RM13.1 billion because we have some dividend coming in December so this is a record in terms of our revenue." He shared these insights in his speech at Christmas Open House The Bishop of Kuching at St Thomas's Cathedral, here, today.

He revealed that the latest figure was conveyed to him by the State Financial Secretary last week.

Highlighting ongoing efforts, he stated, "As we go along with our revenue engineering that the state government is doing and the various laws that have been introduced recently, there is a possibility that our revenue will increase further." 

Premier Abang Johari outlined Sarawak's revenue structure, comprising four main categories: tax revenue, non-tax revenue, non-revenue receipts, and federal grants and reimbursements.

Expressing optimism for the future, he added, "We hope that in 2024 and 2025 we can see a further increase (in revenue)."
